Questions
- What makes two fonts pair well?
- Contrast with something in common. A serif heading with a sans body is the classic, because the shapes differ but the sizes and spacing feel related. Two very similar fonts look like a mistake, and two loud fonts fight.
- How many fonts should a website use?
- Two is plenty: one for headings and one for everything else. Use weights (regular, bold) for variety instead of adding a third font.
- Are these fonts free for commercial use?
- Yes. Every font here is under an open licence (SIL Open Font License or Apache 2.0). Each download includes the licence file.
- How do I use a pair on my website?
- Press Copy CSS. It gives you the Google Fonts line to load both fonts and the CSS to apply them to headings and body text.
- Need colours too?
- The colour palette generator shows your palette on a sample page with any of these fonts.
